Voice Files for your iPod/MP3

Recording natural speech is an efficient way to expose people's mistakes.  We record and transcribe speech and through a series of subsequent lessons, specific errors are treated and corrected so that people slowly acquire the skill of correcting themselves.   Voice files are made so that you can put them on your iPod or MP3 for future self-study.   

E-mail
During every lesson, grammar points, new vocabulary and exercises for self-study are recorded on a laptop and then sent by e-mail to the client within 24 hours.   Self-study exercises can be e-mailed back to the teacher before the next lesson thus providing relevant input for forthcoming tuition. 

Podcasts
There are some excellent podcasts available through iTunes and the BBC website to help you with  listening and pronunciation.  Guidance is provided on where to find them, how to download and use effectively for further study.

Voice Recognition

This is an exciting development for language learning although it is still quite basic in terms of recognising different accents and intonation. However, it can be useful for helping advanced students with pronunciation and error correction.   We respect the fact that it is not for everyone and it is entirely up to the individual whether to experiment or not.   

Pen and Paper

Despite the increased temptation to use technology in many aspects of our lives, tried and tested methods work best for most people. At Exclusive English, we love using pens and paper too!   

Writing

Free writing is a very good way of relaxing with the new language whilst in your own space.   Many people lack confidence to do this at the beginning, but after a little while they seem to enjoy the experience and are amazed at how quickly they improve and speed up.  This technique enables the individual to see their own mistakes and thus later correct them as the tuition continues.   This can be done by e-mail if preferred.

There are many web resources for grammar and vocabulary which we show clients in order to help them with self-study.  In addition, we keep clients up to date with useful websites such as BBC Radio and the British Council, since many provide excellent learning support to supplement formal tuition with Exclusive English.
